Youngest Hafiz in B&H klix.baTen years and ten days. Abdurahman Tabakovic was exactly that much old when he prayed the final parts of Qur’an in front of the commission of the Riyasat of the Islamic Community in B&H in late August, and therefore obtained the honorable title of hafiz. Thereby, Abdurahman officially became the youngest hafiz in B&H.

Abdurahman, the youngest of three children in the Tabakovic family, started studying hifz less than three years ago. He was seven at that time, and was a pupil in the second grade of the Primary School “Hasim Spahic” in Ilijas. In fact, according to Abdurahman, it is difficult to determine when the process of studying hifz actually started.

It all started somehow unplanned. By studying at home, Abdurahman already knew the first thirty pages of Qur’an as a seven-year-old boy. It was only then when Abdurahman, together with his parents, decided to try studying hifz.

“I started going to maktab with the professor Serif ef. Catic, here in Ilijas. I additionally went to Vogosca, where the muqabalas were held with the hafiz Amer Dzeko. There the idea was born that I try to study hifz. Hafiz told me to learn two verses so we can try out”, Abdurahman said.

First two ayahs (verses) that Abdurahman was supposed to learn were those found when you open the 30th page of Qur’an. Then he already knew the first 30 pages, but the path full of challenges, renunciations, and delight which the final outcome brings, were just ahead of him.

At the beginning, he had been learning three pages for two days. And later? Abdurahman’s father Hamzalija said that later it took only a couple of hours for him to learn a new page. As the learning of new pages went faster, time had to be made for repeating the already learnt ones, and so on until the final examination in front of the commission.

“At the beginning it somehow does not look so difficult, as long as you are still learning new pages. When you reach the stage when new pages are learnt and the old ones repeated, you realize how serious process that actually is. When one new page must be learnt and 20 old ones repeated in one day, you get to see it is difficult”, Hamzalija stated.
