There are only 3 Months left until the Start of the Construction of the largest Project in BiH

Two months ago, the Public Company Motorways of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) announced that they expect work on the most demanding and complex structure in the history of construction in BiH to begin by the end of this year.

The tunnel will be financed from international credit funds from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the European Investment Bank (EIB), grants from the European Union (EU), and funds from the Public Company Motorways of the FBiH.

It will have two tubes with two lanes in each direction, and in addition to the tunnel, this section includes access to the northern and southern portals, so the total length increases from 10.4 kilometers to 12 kilometers. The height difference from start to finish is 439 meters.

The design of the tunnel was entrusted to an international consortium led by the Slovenian company Elea iC, and around 50 experts worked on it because it is a technically extremely demanding project in terms of safety, ventilation, traffic, and hydrogeology.

And hydrogeology will be the biggest challenge during construction.

Corridor Vc connects Budapest via Osijek, Doboj, Zenica, Sarajevo, and Mostar with the Port of Ploce and will significantly speed up the transport of goods and passengers.

It has a total length of 320 kilometers, and the complexity of the terrain on which it is being built is best evidenced by the fact that the construction of 52 tunnels is planned, of which 14 have been built so far, while seven are in the construction phase.

If everything is on schedule, the completion of the Prenj tunnel construction should coincide with the completion of the complete Corridor Vc, which will connect BiH with the Mediterranean Corridor, which stretches from Spain, through France, Italy, Slovenia, and Croatia, to Hungary, Biznis Info reports.
