Several thousand citizens of Tuzla and Tuzla Canton attended a peaceful protest march due to the murder of Amra Kahrimanović, which took place on February 7 in the evening hours in the Sjenjak Shopping Center.
At the same time, today was declared the Day of Mourning in Tuzla, but today is also the birthday of the monstrously murdered Amra Kahrimanović.
Just like yesterday at the funeral, today, too, rivers of people flowed in front of the Sjenjak Shopping Center, and the protest march continued to the plateau of a building located in the immediate vicinity of the headquarters of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tuzla Canton.
Previously, citizens signed an initiative demanding the urgent convening of sessions of the Government and the Assembly of the Republic of Croatia, the dismissal of the Minister of Internal Affairs, Hajrudin Mehanović, the dismissal and disciplinary responsibility against all other responsible persons for the systemic failures that led to the tragic murder, the initiation of an investigation and criminal punishment for failing to record the disposal of the official pistol used in the murder and ensuring the decision to approve financial resources for the urgent establishment of regular medical examinations for all police officers.
The brother of the murdered Amra, Nedžad Kahrimanović, said that those responsible have a deadline of seven days to fulfill the demands or else more massive protests will follow.
“Unfortunately, today should have been a day of joy, today is Amra’s birthday, and we have a day of mourning. If Amra could see this she would have such a gentle smile full of kindness. We will persevere in our demands, that is, requests, silent requests, and we will certainly remove the Minister of Internal Affairs of TK who did not have the empathy to express his condolences to the family and the police director of Tuzla Canton and all those who are responsible in their chain of responsibility. They have to resign and human responsibility should start from this case,” said Kahrimanović.
Muris Memić also addressed those present, who gave suggestions to the family on how they should continue the fight, and told the citizens that they themselves must fight for their country, not someone else. Activists from Gradačac also spoke, and finally the son of the murdered Amra, Damir Hodžić.
“MUPTK is responsible for all omissions. They must take responsibility and they must not shift responsibility and reduce this case to a report. In a normal state, people in responsible positions would resign on their own initiative either because of mistakes made or for ethical and moral reasons,” said, among other things, Damir Hodžić, who at the end congratulated the murdered mother on her birthday in an emotional way.
The peaceful gathering of thousands of citizens ended in silence with clearly stated demands and a set deadline. The Kahrimanović family has, as pointed out, full support and if their demands are not met, more mass protests will follow.
