Thousands of Believers made a Pilgrimage to Hum Hill above Mostar

Yesterday, thousands of believers made a pilgrimage to the Hum Hill above Mostar in the devotional Way of the Cross procession, which is traditionally held on Good Friday, when Catholics remember the suffering of Jesus, with which, according to biblical tradition, he redeemed the sins of the world.

The Way of the Cross began at the first station at the foot of Hum with a prayer led by the Bishop of Mostar, Petar Palic, with the concelebration of numerous priests, while the symbolic processional cross was carried alternately by the believers until the 14th stations on Hum.

Before the start of the procession, Bishop Palic said that by praying with devotion to The Way of the Cross, the faithful become aware of the price of their salvation and redemption and that God became man, and in everything, he stands in solidarity with man.

“Not only did he show solidarity, but through suffering and death on the cross, the cruelest death, he accepted all that was not good in order to save man,” said Bishop Palic.

He emphasized that the gathering of a large number of believers shows that they want real spiritual preparation for the Holy Trinity, which began to be celebrated two days ago, and that they want real spiritual preparation for the Feast of Christ’s resurrection, which is celebrated worldwide on Sunday.

Namely, Good Friday together with Holy Thursday and Holy Saturday make up the Holy Trinity, and for Catholics fasting is obligatory on Good Friday, for all adults up to 60 years of age.

Although Good Friday commemorates the suffering and death of Jesus Christ, for Catholics it is not a day of general mourning, but a solemn day of reconciliation between heaven and earth, God and man.

It is the fundamental period of spiritual preparation for Easter, which is also the biggest Catholic holiday, on which, according to the Bible, the Catholic faith is based, Klix.ba reports.
