The rally in support of the student blockades “I think, therefore I block” which was held on Sunday near the Rector’s building in Novi Sad gathered several thousand people.

Citizens painted the plateau in front of the Rectorate building red, with numerous bloody handprints, which are a symbol of protest.

Citizens also wrote a message in large letters on the pavement: “Your hands are bloody! You will answer”.

The protest began with a minute’s silence at 11:52 a.m., in memory of the victims of the Novi Sad tragedy, in which 15 people died and two were seriously injured, when a reinforced concrete canopy collapsed on them from the recently renovated building of the main railway station in that city.

More than 40 state universities in Serbia are currently on lockdown, and as announced in the invitation to the rally, students are teaching the entire country the most important lesson.
