At the Balkan Youth Olympic Boxing Championship, three brothers won three silver medals. The Kunovac brothers from Sarajevo, Romania proudly represented Bosnia and Herzegovina, where representatives of a total of 11 countries fought for medals.
“I fought against the national champion of Romania. He was a much stronger and more experienced fighter than me, but we continue to train hard because the silver medal is also a very good success.”, said Emir Kunovac, member of the “Sarajevo” Boxing Club.
“In the final, I fought against the representative of Romania, who won the gold medal at the “Dracula Open” this year. The match was very close, so the judges gave the victory to the local representative in a split decision.”, said Tarik Kunovac.

“In the final, I fought against a representative of Kosovo. Unfortunately, I lost, but he is a more experienced, stronger and better fighter who won a European medal last year in Bulgaria.”, explained Nijaz Kunovac.
For the Sarajevo Boxing Club, this was a successful year and the best proof that valuable and quality work is always rewarded.
“We are very satisfied with the successes we achieved this year. We won four gold and two bronze medals at the national championship, we won the cup for the best club and the best junior at the “Zagreb Open” tournament, bronze at the European Championship, two gold and two bronze at the “Sarajevo Trophy” tournament, where our Tarik Kunovac won the cup for the most fighting pair,” adds Nijaz Kunovac.
After these performances, there will be a short period of rest for these young and talented athletes, but new preparations for the next performances will soon follow, as the ambitions are, as always, extremely high.
