Three Men sentenced to 38 Years in Prison for Raping a Young Woman in Sarajevo

The Cantonal Court in Sarajevo has handed down a first-instance verdict and found Benjamin Aganović, Aladin Hajdarević and Nermin Dizdarević guilty, who were sentenced to a total of 38 years in prison for raping a girl, the Cantonal Prosecutor’s Office announced.

As stated in the statement, Aganović was sentenced to a single year in prison for 15 years for the criminal offenses of violation of the inviolability of the home, unlawful deprivation of liberty, rape and unauthorized optical recording, Hajdarević was sentenced to 13 years in prison for the criminal offense of violation of the inviolability of the home, unlawful deprivation of liberty, while Dizdarević was sentenced to 10 years in prison for the criminal offense of rape. After the verdict was pronounced, the defendants’ detention was extended by nine months.

Benjamin Aganović is accused of asking her to take responsibility, threatening her several times, after the hearing held in the Municipal Court in Sarajevo in the case in which he was accused of drug trafficking with the victim in that case. After she refused, on January 25, 2025, in the afternoon, Aganović and Hajdarević broke into the apartment where she lived.

They beat her, pulled her hair, drugged her and then raped her. Accused Aganović recorded everything with his cell phone. During the night, the accused Nermin Dizdarević came to the apartment and also raped her. The day after, the victim managed to escape from the apartment, running towards the Pejton neighborhood, where an unknown passer-by helped her.
