On today’s session of the Main Board of Party of Democratic Action (SDA) president of the party Sulejman Tihić and member of the Presidency of SDA Bakir Izetbegović said that the Convention is not a perfect solution, but in this moment it is the best solution for strengthening the party and BiH.
They called the members of the main board of SDA to support the decision of the Presidency, in other words to support the holding of Convention instead of Congress and to elect new leadership.
Tihić, in his speech, noted that today’s session of the Main Board is without a doubt the most important in this mandate, because they will decide on postponing the 6th Congress of the party.
”There are different viewpoint inside SDA concerning this issue, and it only shows the true democratic capacity”, said Tihić.
He said that the essence of postponing the Congress lies in the fact that BiH is in crisis since May 2012, and added that now is not the time to deal with internal issues of the party, but SDA must deal with BiH.
He noted that set of laws, which are the result of several agreements, including the agreement between the president of SDP Zlatko Lagumdžija and president of SNSD Milorad Dodik, lead to the disintegration of the state of BiH.
Izetbegović agrees with Tihić, and added that this does not mean that the party will be run by two men- Tihić and Izetbegović, but, that behind this agreement are hundreds of hours of talks and consultations, and that this is the will of hundreds of people.
”The solution to postpone the Congress for two years is a perfect solution, when we’ll have 6500 people that will decide on the leadership of the party instead of 650”, said Izetbegović.
Ninety eight members of SDA attended the session of the Main Board, and it is expected that they will vote on the amendments to the statute that would allow them to hold a convention instead of the Congress party which was the proposal of Presidency of SDA.
