Total Lunar Eclipse to Grace the Skies This Sunday

A total lunar eclipse will be visible on Sunday, September 7, the “Ruđer Bošković” Astronomical Society from Belgrade announced.

The society announced that in Serbia, the Moon will appear partially eclipsed in the east in the evening.

The total eclipse will be from 7:30 p.m. to 8:52 p.m.

All phases of the eclipse will be visible from India, China, central Russia, Kazakhstan and Western Australia, and will not be visible from North or South America, Tanjug reports.

According to estimates, this phenomenon will be visible to about 77 percent of the Earth’s population.

During the eclipse, the Moon passes through the Earth’s shadow, and only red light from the Sun’s white light passes through the Earth’s atmosphere to its surface, so the Moon has a copper-red color, which is why it is often called a “blood Moon” in the West.

A lunar eclipse is observed with the naked eye.
