[wzslider autoplay=”true”]Ethno village Stanisici is located at the exit from Bijeljina.

Staying in this place will make you feel like you are in the past times when people used to live simply, enjoying the nature.

Ethno Village “Stanisici” was established in 2003 thanks to the inspiration of Boris Stanisic. He traveled for several years through Serbian villages in central Bosnia, searching for old houses and objects that would represent one-time and culture of life of the late 19th and early 20th century. The result is an authentic mountain village in the middle of Semberija flatland.

The village is divided into two parts. One part shows secular life and it is built out of the wood. It is consisted of wooden houses – chalets with furniture that belonged to them for centuries. Houses are connected with paved stone paths, and there are two lakes in the center of the village. The second section has a spiritual character, with the medieval architecture built in stone, which is in fact a collection of replicas of historical and religious significance.

The village contains mill, dairy, forge, stone well, a barn and authentic wooden houses with the furniture and traditional costumes. Mill was made in 1937, and it is still in use as well as water mill from 1917 that still grinds flour for bread that is served at the restaurant. Inside of the mill is everything that miller needed to stay in it during the season of wheat milling. Dairy is dating from 1948. It is a small building for milk processing and storage of dairy products, with all wooden pots. Dairy was well ventilated and clean.

Houses belonging to the Dinaric type, they are made of wood and with a high roof. This is a small apartment complex where houses are authentic outside, while the interior is adapted to modern needs of the guests. In one of the house is placed a souvenir shop that offers products of traditional crafts and handicrafts. Several facilities are under the construction, in which will be located smithy, weaving and pottery workshops.

All buildings are located near the lake and stream that is between them, and they are connected by paths paved with stone. From the spring flows fresh water around the village, and symbolizes the origin of life, existence and duration.

The spiritual part brings us even deeper into the past and it is made of replicas of objects from various places that are marked with Orthodoxy. It is linked with the secular part of the village with a large stone bridge that is a replica of the Goat’s Bridge in Sarajevo. It leads to the Baptistery, which is modeled after the small church that exists in Alaska.

Near the monastic house, on the lake, is an amphitheater with 380 seats, intended for cultural events under the open sky.
