In the last year, the municipality of Travnik has been making great efforts to simplify the procedures for opening new jobs in that municipality. The activities are particularly focused on the opening of new activities, which is the direct responsibility of local administrations. The application procedure for starting a business has been simplified, from now on it is also possible online through applications, and the complete procedure until the decision is issued takes one working day.

Travnik will become the first “Digital Tax Free City” in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which represents a comprehensive plan of the Municipality of Travnik for the modernization and simplification of the process of establishing trades in the territory of this municipality. Since the middle of last month, a modern application has been available to interested citizens through which they can register their own business online and completely free of charge, that is, create a workplace for themselves.

“So you don’t have to come to the municipality once more, except for the last time to download the solution, because I don’t have a digital signature yet, otherwise you shouldn’t come at all. There is no payment, we have released it.” says the head of the municipality of Travnik, Kenan Dautović.

This approach of the Municipality of Travnik represents the intention of the local government to realize its vision of a digitally advanced city that provides the necessary support and incentives for the development of entrepreneurship as an important prerequisite for creating a sustainable and prosperous environment for its residents through the implementation of the Digital Tax Free project.

“It is very important for us today, if we want to keep young people in Bosnia and Herzegovina in particular, that we can use digital technologies, that we can submit a request and register online, as is possible in any other country of the European Union, and relatively quickly, in this case within 24 hours, receive requested documents”, emphasizes economic analyst Faruk Hadžić.

“For a craft, to create a craft in the municipality of Travnik, it used to take 15 days, 13 documents were needed. You had to pay a certain fee and for everything you had to go to several places, our famous paper chase, since it is now digital, first we reduced the number of documents to eight and for the IT trade to seven, even with the tendency to be six,” notes Dautović.

A total of 599 trades were registered in Travnik Municipality at the beginning of last year, and in the middle of this year that number increased to 759 registered trades, which is an argumentative indicator of the growth in the number of trades in that municipality. The authorities expect that in the next year, thanks to new benefits and the possibility of online trade registration, that number will be doubled.
