The trial of the Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Selmo Cikotic, accused of abuse of office, which damaged the budget of BiH by about 9.7 million BAM, will begin today before the Court of BiH.

The indictment charges him that from 2009 to 2011, while serving as Minister of Defense, he abused his official position by illegally favoring a buyer, to the detriment of the ministry he headed, during a plan to export and sell surplus obsolete weapons, ammunition and military equipment.

As an official in the executive bodies of BiH, Cikotic caused damage to the BiH budget by his actions and obtained a large amount of property gain for another, thus committing a prolonged criminal offense of abuse of position or authority, it is stated.

The Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina has previously said that it will prove the guilt of the indictee by examining a number of witnesses and expert experts and attaching hundreds of pieces of material evidence.

Cikotic pleaded not guilty in January.
