US President Donald Trump on Friday called on Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to end the war, urging them to negotiate a peace agreement.

“My meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was very interesting and cordial, but I told him, as I strongly suggested to President Putin, that it is time to stop the killing and make a deal!” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.

“Enough blood has been shed, and property lines have been defined by war and guts. They should stop where they are. Let both sides claim victory, let history decide!” he added.

Trump said the war “would never have started if I were president.”

“No more shooting, no more deaths, no more huge and unsustainable sums of money spent,” he said. ”

“Thousands of people are being killed every week – No more, go home to your families in peace,” he added.

His remarks came after a meeting with Zelensky at the White House, amid renewed efforts to end the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

Trump announced on Thursday that he had agreed to meet with Putin in Hungary to discuss ending the war in Ukraine after high-level delegations meet next week, AA writes.
