US President Donald Trump said he believes a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip between Israel and Hamas is close and could be announced soon.

Trump told reporters in the Oval Office that he believes the US is also close to an agreement with Iran on its nuclear program.

Commenting on Elon Musk’s departure from the head of the US administration’s efficiency control service, Trump said that Musk is not leaving permanently and that he will come to the White House often.

Musk added that the service will continue after his departure.

The US president said he would speak with Chinese President Xi Jinping and that he hoped the two would resolve their differences over trade and tariffs, after accusing Beijing of violating the agreement with Washington earlier in the day.
