The company of United States (U.S.) President Donald Trump, Trump Organization, will build a new Trump Tower Bucharest in the Romanian capital, in cooperation with local partner SDC Imobiliare.
This will be Trump’s second tower in the Balkans, after the project by his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, in Belgrade.
“Trump Tower Bucharest will be built in the heart of the Romanian capital, one of the most vibrant and dynamic developing markets in Europe, bringing premium Trump-branded residences to the region,” the companies stated.
The value of the deal was not disclosed.
The CEO of SDC, Stefan Berciu, attended Trump’s inauguration in January, and at the time told Romanian media that during the U.S. president’s second term, he expected “two special projects in the real estate sector.”
There are currently 15 towers in the world bearing the Trump name, including four in the U.S. and three in India.
Numerous projects in the Balkans
Plans are underway to build Trump Tower in Belgrade, where the project is being developed by the husband of Trump’s daughter, Jared Kushner, through his company Affinity Partners.
At the same time, Kushner is developing a luxury tourist resort on the Albanian island of Sazan, which will be under the brand of the hotel chain Aman Resorts.
Trump is more focused on private business abroad
According to media reports, Trump is more inclined toward making private business deals abroad in his second term than during his first. Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., who is executive vice president of the family company with his brother Eric, has visited Eastern Europe several times since the inauguration.
He met with the then-prime ministers of Romania (Victor Ponta) and Bulgaria (Boyko Borisov), who later lost their positions due to corruption charges. The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, was his guest on a podcast, N1 writes.
