United States (U.S.) President Donald Trump said yesterday that he is ready to introduce new sanctions on Russia, but on the condition that NATO countries stop buying Russian oil.
“I am ready to undertake significant sanctions against Russia from the moment NATO countries also decide that, and when all NATO countries stop buying oil from Russia,” Trump wrote on his network, Truth Social.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy earlier conveyed that Trump, during a telephone conversation with European leaders gathered at the beginning of September in Paris, expressed “great dissatisfaction” that the countries of the European Union (EU) are buying Russian oil.
The EU, two days ago, extended sanctions on Russia and is preparing the 19th package of economic sanctions intended, among other things, to reduce Russia’s sources of financing, targeting in particular its oil sales.
