United States President Donald Trump said today that the United States is “very close” to reaching an agreement to end the war in Ukraine.

“It’s not easy, but I believe we are very close to an agreement. We will see,” the US president said at the White House during his Thanksgiving Day address.

White House spokeswoman Carolyne Leavitt announced on the X network that the United States had made “tremendous progress toward a peace agreement last week by bringing both Ukraine and Russia to the negotiating table.”

“A few sensitive but not insurmountable details remain to be resolved, which will require additional talks between Ukraine, Russia and the United States,” Leavitt wrote.

The United States and Russia are holding talks in Abu Dhabi, while Kiev reports “tangible progress” in the Geneva talks.

Meanwhile, Russian strikes on the Ukrainian capital today killed at least six people, and Ukraine claims to have hit a refinery in Novorossiysk.
