Trump: Tariffs Brought Trillions Of Dollars

Without the import tariffs that brought trillions of dollars to the United States (U.S.), the country would be completely destroyed, and its military power is currently devalued, said U.S. President Donald Trump, reacting to the decision of the federal appeals court that most of the tariffs he imposed were illegal.

The U.S. appeals court ruled that Trump did not have the authority to independently impose large trade tariffs and declared most of them unfounded.

“The law gives the president significant authority to take a range of measures in response to a declared national emergency,” the court’s ruling states.

Trump, however, rejected the ruling and emphasized that the tariffs would remain in effect.

Tariffs remain in effect

“These measures have led to more than 15 trillion dollars in investment in our country. If a radical left-wing court allowed the tariffs to be lifted, almost all of that investment would be wiped out, and the U.S. would become a third-world country without hope for greatness,” said the U.S. president.

He added that all previously imposed import tariffs from other countries will continue to apply, despite the appeals court decision.
