US President Donald Trump said today that the US will impose a 100 percent tariff on all Canadian imports if Canada concludes a trade agreement with China.

Trump stated on his social network that Canadian Prime Minister Mac Carney, whom he called the governor, is very mistaken if he thinks that he will make Canada a transit port for China to send goods and products to the USA.

“China would then completely swallow Canada, including the destruction of their businesses, social fabric and general way of life,” Trump wrote.

Karni signed an agreement with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing at the beginning of the week, reducing tariffs on electric vehicles, agricultural products and other sectors.

During the conversation with Xi, as part of the first visit of a Canadian leader to China in the last eight years, he said that engagement and cooperation should be the basis of the new partnership, highlighting areas such as agriculture, energy and finance as sectors where the fastest progress is possible.
