tunel-vijenac-busenjeTunnel “Vijenac”, whose construction is in phase II, will be the longest tunnel in BiH and one of the most modern and best equipped in the region.

During the design and construction of the tunnel, special attention was devoted to traffic safety and passengers in the tunnel. Asmir Pašić, project manager of the company “ACO” said that the most modern tunnel drainage system with slit channels of polymer concrete that prevent the spread of fire within and between the pipes has been built.

“In recent years, there has been more attention during the design and execution of the tunnel, which gives security to traffic and passengers in the tunnel. From this aspect, one of the more important elements is the safe drainage of hazardous and flammable fluids in case of an accident in the tunnel system’’, said Pašić.

Representatives of JP “Autoceste FBiH” spoke to Ambassador Sorensen with the current work begin done and the safety aspects to be met in order to modernize traffic in BiH. Sorensen said that the EU is interested in the Corridor 5C pproject because it is a project of great importance for BiH, which creates a number of jobs.

“The completion of the tunnel is planned for Marcy 2014, which will put into function the entire part of Drivuša – Kakanj, or Sarajevo – Zenica.
