Tuzla International Airport expects to handle up to 800,000 Passengers

Tuzla International Airport expects to handle up to 800,000 passengers in 2026, driven by the continued expansion of low-cost carrier Wizz Air and the introduction of new routes and charter services.

Following the reopening of Wizz Air’s base in Tuzla late last year, the airline is set to further strengthen its presence by stationing a second aircraft at the airport in March and launching six additional routes. This expansion is expected to significantly boost passenger numbers and improve connectivity between Tuzla and key European destinations.

In addition to Wizz Air’s growth, Tuzla Airport will welcome two weekly charter flights to Hurghada during the summer season, operated by Air Cairo and Nile Air. The airport will also introduce a new scheduled route to Zurich, which will be maintained by Chair Airlines.

Alongside traffic growth, Tuzla Airport is planning major infrastructure upgrades during 2026. These include the installation of lighting in the touchdown zone — the section of the runway where aircraft first make contact during landing — as well as the installation of red side-row lights along the runway perimeter. The airport also plans to expand its apron capacity from three to seven aircraft parking positions, which will significantly improve operational flexibility.

Capacity growth is already visible in the current schedule. During the first half of the year, Tuzla Airport has 426,980 available seats on scheduled services, representing a year-on-year increase of 173%, or an additional 270,928 seats compared to the same period last year.

Airport officials expect that the combination of network expansion, new carriers, and infrastructure investments will firmly position Tuzla as one of the fastest-growing regional airports in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
