The Tuzla Canton Government secured 2.5 million BAM for a new contract with the Greek airline Lumiwings, which will fly from Tuzla to Stockholm and Halmstad in Sweden, Maastricht in the Netherlands, Saarbrucken in Germany, and Esbjerg in Denmark from December 18. In addition to the EU countries, the line to Istanbul is also opening soon.

The price of the plane ticket will be 75 euros for flights from December 18.

Our expectations are that the established flights will be well received by passengers and that the offered flights will especially arouse the business interest of the diaspora. In order to enable travelers to buy plane tickets for the upcoming winter holidays at better prices, starting today we are offering plane tickets at prices starting from 75 euros for flights from December 18, said Dimitrios Kremiotis, manager of the Lumiwings airline.

The government is intervening in view of the departure of WizzAir, in the hope that the Tuzla airport will once again operate at full capacity. After the departure of this company, they only kept flights to Memmingen, Basel and Dortmund.

“We offered a subsidy, and we did it for the sake of travelers, for our diaspora, and then for the positive impact on trade and tourism. In this context, 2.5 million KM subsidy is not a large amount, considering what we get from half a million passengers”, said Irfan Halilagić, Prime Minister of Tuzla Canton.

Incentive of the FBIH Government – airports in Sarajevo, Mostar and Tuzla

The Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina made two decisions on the adoption of the program of spending funds for the international airports in Sarajevo, Mostar and Tuzla. With this decision, it allocates a total of 3.6 million BAM for the improvement of air traffic.

Public enterprises Sarajevo International Airport d.o.o., Mostar Airport d.o.o. and Tuzla International Airport d.o.o. are obliged to report quarterly to the Federal Ministry of Transport and Communications on the expenditure of these funds, and after the expenditure of the funds, by 28.2.2024 at the latest. are required to prepare an overall report on the spent transfer funds and submit them to the Ministry, according to the decision of this institution.

In this way, the Government of the FBiH shows that it can participate in the coordination of the operation of airports in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and with that strategic, unique approach to encourage the development of tourism, which has the power to influence the growth and development of the entire economy, Forbes reports.
