On Thursday and Friday, 6 and 7 March, the international conference ‘Digital Media Forum 2014’ will take place in Sarajevo. It is dedicated to trends in the media and journalism in the context of digital technologies.
At the conference, they will take about how investigative journalism tlooks today in the context of new technologies, whether digital journalism provided a more significant influence of the media, whether clear boundaries can be set between civil and mainstream media and the modern trends in the curricula of online journalism within formal education.
The conference will bring together more than 50 journalists, editors, representatives of civil society and the academic community from the region and the world. In addition to editors and journalists from B&H, other speakers at the forum include: Mirjana Jevtović, journalist of Insider B92, George Arnett, journalist of the Guardian Datablog, Toni Gabrić, Editor of H-Alter and Ante Magzan, President of Adriatic Media.
The Forum will have five sessions: ‘Investigative journalism in the digital age’, ‘Competition or partnership-the phenomenon of civic media’, ‘models of financing, models of survival’, Warming of the jungle: media literacy in the digital age’ and ‘Start-ups and knowledge centers-cross sectoral initiatives for better online media’.
The Media Center Sarajevo announced that the forum is expected to be opened by the Press Attache of the Embassy of the USA to B&H Philip M. Beekman and the Director of Internews in B&H of USAID’s project ‘Strengthening Independent Media’ Sue Folger.
