The Minister for Veteran Affairs of the Sarajevo Canton, Omer Osmanović, held a working meeting today with the representatives of the veterans’ cooperatives of the Sarajevo Canton and the Federation of BiH, Adis Karić and Nagib Hadzić, where they discussed the improvement of the veterans’ cooperatives.

It is about a project that the Ministry has been implementing for a number of years, and which is still recognizable in Sarajevo Canton.

On this occasion, Minister Osmanović pointed out that support for veterans’ cooperatives will not be absent even in 2023, and that funds in the amount of about 200,000 BAM have been set aside for this purpose.

“In the previous year, through the veterans’ cooperative, we successfully co-financed the maintenance of employment for a total of 70 persons, members of the veteran population, which is a positive trend when it comes to employment projects in the Ministry of Veteran Affairs of the BAM. I hope that this year we will have the opportunity to even increase the number of employees, which is certainly our ultimate goal. I am glad that I had the opportunity to discuss the possibilities of improving the business segments of veterans’ cooperatives and preserving existing employment. This year, too, the Ministry will allocate significant funds for the implementation of this project, through a public call, which will be announced in the final phase,” according to Minister Osmanović.

According to the data of the Association of veterans’ cooperatives of the Sarajevo region, at the moment there are more than 50 veterans’ cooperatives operating in Sarajevo Canton with different business orientations, namely construction, tourism, agriculture and traffic, as well as various service activities.

It was pointed out that veterans’ cooperatives with their 250 cooperative members and their family members, with around 200 permanently employed persons from the veteran population and with respectable technical and technological resources, represent a new economic sector on the market of Sarajevo Canton, but also beyond, announced the Service for protocol and press of Canton Sarajevo.
