Chairman of the Presidency of BiH Željko Komšić and member of the Presidency Denis Bećirović held a meeting with the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal today, it was announced from the office of the Ukrainian Prime Minister.

“We appreciate this visit, as well as Bosnia and Herzegovina’s participation in the Crimean Platform and the events dedicated to Ukraine’s Independence Day,” said PM.

The Prime Minister of Ukraine emphasized the importance of Bosnia and Herzegovina joining the EU sanctions policy. The sides also discussed the challenges Ukraine faces as a result of Russian aggression. Specifically, demining and rehabilitation of wounded soldiers.

“For us, the experiences of Bosnia and Herzegovina in these areas are important. I propose to continue the work of the Joint Ukrainian-Bosnian-Herzegovinian Committee in order to identify future areas of mutually beneficial cooperation,” said the head of the Ukrainian government.

Ukranian PM thanked Bosnia and Herzegovina for the humanitarian aid and support to Ukraine at all international forums.

On Wednesday, Komšić and Bećirović held a meeting with the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, which is the first meeting at such a high level between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Ukraine since the beginning of the Russian aggression against Ukraine.

During the meetings held, members of the Presidency gave their full support to Ukrainian territorial integrity and said that Ukraine enjoys the support of the majority of the inhabitants of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Komšić, as Chairman of the Presidency, addressed those present at the summit of the Crimean Platform held in Kyiv, which aims to ensure the return of occupied Crimea to Ukraine. Also, Komšić gave a speech on the central Kyiv square, Maidan, on the occasion of Ukraine’s Independence Day.

Ukrainian officials thanked Bosnia and Herzegovina for the financial support, the introduction of sanctions against Russia and the vote in favor of Ukraine in the United Nations General Assembly.
