On the third day of the European ITF Taekwondo Championship in Maribor (Slovenia), the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team won two more medals in the senior competition, confirming the continuity of top results in major competitions.
The bronze medal was won by national team member Melina Ružnić, a member of the Martial Arts Club “Tigar” from Cazin.
Last year’s junior world champion is competing in the senior competition this year, where in the 60 kg category, after convincing victories over representatives from Poland, England and Ukraine, she reached the semifinals.
Another bronze medal for Bosnia and Herzegovina was won by Ivana Ilić, a member of the Taekwondo Club “Sloga-Prodamont” from Doboj.
She reached the semifinals by defeating the representative from Sweden, where she was stopped in the fight for the final. Ilić is also the winner of the bronze medal from last year’s World Championship in the senior competition.
The results achieved in the first three days of the European Championship in Maribor once again confirm the quality of the BiH national team, and show that the successes from previous major competitions are not a coincidence, but the result of continuous and systematic work of ITF taekwondo in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Despite the numerous challenges facing the sport in Bosnia and Herzegovina, these results are the fruit of the joint work of the Taekwondo Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, entity federations, coaches and parent clubs from which our national team members come, the Taekwondo Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina announced.
