The European Football Union (UEFA) announced today that it will increase security measures at the European Championship matches in Germany, to prevent fans from running onto the field and reaching the players.

UEFA said it will introduce additional security measures at 10 stadiums in Germany.

During last night’s match between Portugal and Turkey (3:0), four fans ran onto the field and reached Cristiano Ronaldo, with whom they wanted to take a picture. Also, after the match in Dortmund, the fans tried to reach the footballer.

“Any encroachment on the field is a violation of the stadium rules and will lead to expulsion from the stadium, banning access to all matches of the tournament and the filing of criminal charges for encroachment,” UEFA said in a statement.

During the other matches at this year’s European Championship, fans invaded the field on several occasions.
