healthKIEV, Oct. 10 (Xinhua) — The Ukrainian government will launch a long-delayed reform of the healthcare system next year, Deputy Prime Minister Pavlo Rozenko announced on Monday.
“The healthcare is now one of the cabinet’s priorities. The society requires real changes for the better and there is no time for long discussions on this issue anymore,” Rozenko was quoted as saying by the government’s press service.
The key sectors for the comprehensive healthcare reform will be the emergency care services, the family medicine and the area of price formation for medical products, Rozenko said.

He added that introduction of health insurance will be another milestone of the reform next year.
The major overhaul of Ukraine’s healthcare system, which was inherited from the former Soviet Union, has been delayed for decades due to political instability, lack of budget funds and controversies inside the government over the model of the reform.
