Union Consumer Basket for October amounts to 3,312 BAM

The trade union consumer basket calculated by the Confederation of Autonomous Trade Unions of Bosnia and Herzegovina (SSSBiH) for October this year amounts to 3,312.40 BAM.

The average salary paid in the Federation of BiH for August was 1,595 BAM. The minimum salary according to the Decision of the Government of the Federation of BiH is 1,000 BAM. The coverage of the trade union consumer basket by the average salary is 48.15 percent. The coverage of the trade union consumer basket by the minimum salary is 30.19 percent.

When creating the trade union consumer basket, the average salary paid in the Federation of BiH was taken into account, as well as the minimum living expenses of a four-member family consisting of two adults and two children, one of whom is in high school and the other in elementary school.

The consumer basket itself consists of: food (43.13 percent share in the union consumer basket), housing and utilities (14.86 percent), hygiene and health maintenance (9.40 percent), education and culture (10.87 percent), clothing and footwear (10.87 percent), transportation (4.83 percent), household maintenance (6.04 percent).

In the food category, prices from three shopping centers for 86 items were used. When it comes to hygiene and health maintenance, costs for ten items were included, and for housing and utilities, costs for six items, the statement said.
