Union Consumer Basket in BiH amounts to 3,114 BAM

The Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Bosnia and Herzegovina announced that the trade union consumer basket they calculated for December 2024 amounts to 3,114.95 BAM.

They remind that the average salary paid in the Federation of BiH for October 2024 was 1,415 BAM (the latest data published by the Federal Institute of Statistics), while the minimum salary according to the Decision of the Government of the Federation of BiH is 619 BAM.

The coverage of the Trade Union Consumer Basket by the average salary is 45.43 percent, and the coverage by the minimum salary is 19.87 percent.

When creating the Trade Union Consumer Basket, the average salary paid in the Federation of BiH was taken into account, as well as the minimum living expenses of a four-member family consisting of two adults and two children, one of whom is in high school and the other in elementary school.

The consumer basket itself consists of the following categories: food (43.93 percent), housing and communal services (14.20 percent), hygiene and health maintenance (9.19 percent), education and culture (10.27 percent), clothing and footwear (11.56 percent), transportation (4.43 percent) and household maintenance (6.42 percent).

In the food category, prices from three shopping centers for 86 items were used. When it comes to hygiene and health maintenance, costs for 10 items were included, and for housing and communal services, costs for six items were included, the SSSBiH announced.
