The FB&H government established a draft law on amendments to the Law on the Unique Master Citizen Number and sent it to parliamentary procedure on an expedited basis. The reason for adopting the amendment is related to creating the necessary conditions for establishment the Unique Master Citizen Number Registry, which is expected to begin functioning from May 12 2014, as set out in article 81 of the Law on Unique Master Citizen Number.
The Unique Master Citizen Number is important for accurately guiding other records (CIPS) that has to use data from the registers. The proposed amendments should eliminate certain dilemmas and ambiguities contained in the Law on Unique Master Citizen Number and facilitate the establishment and proper functioning of the parent registry.
In order for the Unique Master Citizen Number to be functional and to achieve its main task, it is necessary for all data provided to be accurate and completed. For this purpose, it was necessary to make certain amendments to the provisions, which would more accurately determine the procedures for corrections in the registers and order the body responsible for solving this issue.
