mosqueThere are 11 mosques, 22 masjids and 2 tekke of Naqshbandi tarikat in the municipality of Fojnica, where believers perform their religious obligations.

Today, the most interesting mosque for both domestic and foreign tourists and visitors who are visiting Fojnica is the mosque at Prokosko Lake, which is located 22 kilometers away from the city.

“The mosque is located at 1,666 meters above the sea level, which makes it the mosque at the highest altitude in Europe. It was built in 2005 for the needs of the population that are residing in the area of Prokosko Lake during the summer. Over time, it became an attraction for tourists who are coming from the Arab countries. The mosque is small in size. The energy that is used for the lighting of the mosque, its minaret and lamps, is obtained from the solar panels that are installed on its roof,” explained coordinator for religious tourism in Fojnica, Harun Pasalic.

Donators of this mosque, where mevlud prayer for martyrs of Fojnica is organized and recited every year in July, are Hajji Salih Cabaravdic and his wife Hadji Ferida Cabaravdic.
