sujicaBosnia and Herzegovina is rich in sceneries that leave people breathless. Some of them were photographed and filmed many times, while some of them are still shyly hidden and only sometimes delight people with their beauty.

If you travel towards the Adriatic Sea via Rostovo and Kupres, you might have already seen the Galečka Bridge on the Šujica River, but many people do not know about this place.

The curviest river in the world flows through the Duvanjsko Field. Area of the settlement Šujica was once a very strategically important territory because the road from Solin (near Spllit) towards the inside of Dalmatia led through the area. Nowadays, this is the place where roads towards Kupres, Livno and Tomislavgrad cross. Not far from this place is the attractive skiing site on Kupres, so Šujica has been experiencing a true tourist renaissance in the past several years. This is way the people in Tomislavgrad launched the initiative to declare the Roman (Ottoman) Bridge in Šujica, also known as the Galečka Bridge, the national monument of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

At the locality of Stržanj, in the vicinity of the spring of the Šujica River at the village of Stržanj, there are remains of the medieval fortified city Stržanj.

The Šujica River, characterized by exceptionally clear water, is a home of trout and grayling, as well as the crayfish. The tail of the crayfish is called šuja among people, so it is a common belief that this place was named Šujica after that.

Take a look at the video made by Dron.ba to see how unusual and gorgeous this river really is.
