US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs James O’Brien and High Representative to Bosnia and Herzegovina Christian Schmidt met today in Sarajevo to discuss the most important challenges facing Bosnia and Herzegovina, including electoral integrity.

The Assistant Secretary of State reaffirmed the strong support of the United States for the High Representative and his use of Bonn powers for the implementation and defense of the Dayton Peace Agreement, support for Bosnia and Herzegovina and its institutions, as well as ensuring the functionality of those institutions, and suppressing inflammatory rhetoric and actions aimed at undermining institutions and the state, the US Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina announced on the X platform.

James O’Brien, assistant to US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, arrived in Sarajevo last night.

O’Brien will meet with members of the BiH Presidency in Sarajevo, Fena reports.
