US Government says that Ukraine was not involved in the Attack in Moscow

The government of the United States of America (USA) announced today that Ukraine was not involved in the attack in the suburbs of Moscow, after Russian President Vladimir Putin mentioned the possible connection of terrorists to Ukraine, because they allegedly tried to escape to that country.

“There is no evidence that Ukraine was involved in the massacre in which 137 people died, and the responsibility for the attack was taken by the ‘Islamic State,'” said US Vice President Kamala Harris.

An unnamed spokesman for the US National Security Council said the “Islamic State” bears full responsibility for the attack.

“There was no involvement of Ukraine,” the spokesman said.

Washington commented on yesterday’s speech by the Russian president, who condemned what he said was a barbaric act of terrorism and added that the four perpetrators of the attack were arrested when they were on their way to Ukraine, without mentioning the “Islamic State”.

The attack took place on Friday in a concert hall located in Krasnogorsk, northwest of Moscow. It is the deadliest terrorist attack in Russia in the last 20 years and the largest attack by the “Islamic State” in Europe.

The terrorist “Islamic State”, against which Russia is fighting in Syria and which is also active in the Russian Caucasus, has already carried out attacks on Russian soil since the end of 2010. However, they never claimed responsibility for such a large-scale attack.

The “Islamic State” announced on Telegram on Friday evening that it was responsible for the attack in Moscow and that it was “part of the war with countries that fight against Islam.”

However, neither Putin nor the Russian security services accused the “Islamic State”, but announced that the suspects of the attack had “contacts on the Ukrainian side” and that they were planning to flee to that country. They did not provide details about the nature of that contact, nor evidence of its existence.

“Ukraine has nothing to do with it,” said adviser to the Ukrainian presidency Mihailo Podoljak, who called Russia’s accusations “absurd.”, Beta news agency writes.
