McCainChairman of the Committee for the armed forces of the Senate of the US John McCain attended the meeting with members of the Presidency of BiH and stated that the last time he visited BiH was in 2010 and that he is surprised with the progress made in this short time, in all segments.

“US policy has been aimed at supporting BiH and its citizens, a respect for its sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as support to European integrations,” said McCain at the conference held in the US Embassy.

He also said that the United States elected a new president and that he is fascinated by a new approach in the security sector, which certainly mean that BiH has support regarding its Euro-Atlantic integrations.

“Congress will support the activation of MAP, which will finally lead BiH to NATO. I want to commend the leaders of this country who have done a lot in the fight against terrorism and I am glad that the army of BiH has shown that it is important for NATO,” said McCain.

He said that he hopes that BiH will join the European Union, “because that would be the best for her.”

US Senator John McCain talked with BH officials on the security situation in the world and the region, with special emphasis on the security situation in BiH and its Euro-Atlantic integrations.

The officials also discussed the participation of citizens of BiH on foreign battlefields, especially in Syria, as well as the crisis in Syria.

McCain arrived in the capital city of BiH as part of his visit to the Balkan countries, after he visited neighboring countries in previous days.

Former Republican candidate for President of the United States from Arizona, the rival of Barack Obama in the presidential election back in 2008, was hosted by the Ambassador Maureen Cormack at the Embassy of the United States after the conversation in the Presidency of BiH.
