BiH Presidency Chairman Željko Komšić and BiH Presidency members Šefik Džaferović and Milorad Dodik received senior US State Department official in charge of electoral reform in BiH Matthew Palmer and the Director of the European Service for Foreign Affairs (EEAS) Angelina Eichhorst.
The members of the Presidency of BiH welcomed the guests and thanked them for the continuous support and assistance of the United States of America and the European Union to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Topics of discussion were the current political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, reform processes and activities on the country’s European path. Members of the BiH Presidency reiterated their commitment to the country’s European perspective, as one of BiH’s key foreign policy goals, for which there is an absolute consensus of all political actors.
The interlocutors exchanged views on electoral reform, the rule of law and the implementation of judgments of the European Court of Human Rights.
US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Palmer and Director Eichhorst reiterated the US and EU support for peace, prosperity and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina. As proven friends and allies of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the United States and the EU will continue to play a partnership role in the country’s reform and European path, for the benefit of all its citizens.
The meeting was also attended by the US Ambassador to BiH Eric Nelson and the Head of the European Union Delegation and the EU Special Representative in BiH, Ambassador Johann Sattler, the BiH Presidency announced.
