Global hacker attack by the so-called blackmail software (ransomware) that affected computer networks of companies and public institutions from all around the world is much larger than it was suspected.
Many companies hired professionals who worked over the weekend in order to prevent new virus attacks.
After the virus infects a computer, it takes control over the files and requests 300 USD to return the access to the user.
According to the latest information, more than 200,000 computers were affected so far.
As BBC wrote earlier, Microsoft stated that hackers could penetrate into the highly secured databases and get access to software, which can later cause huge and unforeseeable consequences.
“Customers who have our free antivirus software or Windows update, are completely protected from this software. Considering the potential impact of cyber-attacks on users and their companies, we also published updates for Windows XP, Windows 8 and Windows Server 2003,” as announced by Microsoft BiH.
According to them, users can find more information on the Microsoft Security Response Center blog: “Guide for users in relation to the attacks WannaCrypt”.
To recall, according to the latest information, systems in the institutions of BiH are not compromised, but BH institutions at the highest level have taken security measures.
