Head of the EU Delegation to B&H and Special Representative of the EU Ambassador Peter Sorensen, accompanied by Zahira Virana, Deputy Resident Ambassador of UNDP to B&H and Anne-Claire Dufay, Deputy Representative of UNICEF to B&H, will visit today the program of EDUS Association-Education for all on the premises of the public institution Mjedenica.
EDUS’s advanced education program for children with developmental disabilities which has been lasting for the fourth school year, has so far been largely financed by the EU from the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA) and through the project that is financed by UNDP ‘’strengthening local democracy/democracy LOD II and II’ and UNICEF ‘strengthening social protection and inclusion system for children in B&H’. Through the visit organized on occasion of the forthcoming World Autism Day (2 April), EDUS will present on this occasion what it has achieved so far and plans for further progress.
Ambassador Sorensen will be thoroughly familiar with the scientific methodology of applied behavior analysis that, on his arrival from the US in 2010, was introduced by scientist from the University of Columbia in New York and Executive Director of EDUS Dr. Nirvana Pištoljević in several departments of Mjedenica, and since 2012 in EDUS’s Center for Early Intervention. In addition, as indicated by the methodology activities with children, and the ways to train experts and parents, individual examples will show what children have learned and how they have progress since joining the program.
