The tenth jubilee edition of Vucko Trail, the most mass-participation trail race in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), will be held from June 19th to June 21st, 2026. This year’s edition brings the biggest novelty so far – a completely new 26-kilometre route, created in response to runners’ wishes and suggestions. Vucko Trail remains true to its mission: to connect people with the mountain, with each other and with themselves, through a unique experience of running on heights, ridges and age-old trodden paths.
“The jubilee edition is not just a number; it is proof that together we have built something that lasts, grows, and inspires. The new 26-kilometre route came directly from dialogue with the runners, because we listen to those who live this race year after year,” said Dalvin Kadiric, president of Mountaineering Association Zeljeznicar, the race organizer.
Over the past nine years, Vucko Trail has written a story of persistence, community, and the beauty of the mountain. What began as a bold idea has grown into the most recognizable outdoor event in BiH, which every year gathers thousands of runners, volunteers, and nature lovers. Runners traverse routes that connect Bjelasnica, Lukomir, Visocica, medieval tombstones (stecci), valleys, and peaks – an area filled with history, legends, and landscapes that change the perspective of everyone who experiences them. The traditional Black (105 km), Red (60 km), Blue (40 km), and Green (14 km) routes, together with the new Yellow route (26 km), allow everyone to find a challenge according to their abilities and ambitions.
“The tenth edition is an opportunity to show how far we have progressed together. We are not celebrating only the race, but also the community that has endured rain, winds, first steps, and records. This is our shared victory,” Kadiric added.
Besides the sporting segment, Vucko Trail is a journey through time and tradition. The routes pass through Lukomir, the highest-inhabited settlement in BiH, where runners pass wooden houses, dry-stone walls, and landscapes that tell the story of old mountain cultures. The encounter with hosts’ hospitality and the view of medieval stecci leave no one indifferent, making this race much more than a physical effort, turning it into an experience that unites sport, history, and the country’s natural heritage.
Registrations for the race are officially open, and everyone who registers early benefits from reduced entry fees, which apply until the end of February. More information about the Vucko Trail and registration is available at http://www.vuckotrail.ba.
Mountaineering Association Zeljeznicar, the organizer of Vucko Trail, is dedicated to promoting outdoor sports activities and preserving the natural environment. Founded with the mission of popularizing mountaineering and outdoor sports in BiH, the association actively advocates for the development of tourism in mountain areas through the Vucko Trail and offers participants from around the world the opportunity to discover the beauties of BiH’s mountains. With each new edition, Vucko Trail further strengthens its position as an unmissable sporting event in BiH.
