BiH Minister of Security Selmo Cikotic and Serbian Interior Minister Aleksandar Vulin signed several agreements on border cooperation, border crossings and joint locations at border crossings, as well as an Annex to the Agreement between the Council of Ministers of BiH and the Serbian Government on joint locations at border crossings Bratunac - new bridge and Ljubovija - new bridge.
Delegations of Bosnia and Herzegovina led by the Minister of Security of BiH Selmo Cikotic and the Republic of Serbia, led by the Minister of Internal Affairs Aleksandar Vulin, met in the premises of the City of Zvornik.
The meeting was also attended by directors of security agencies of the two countries.
The activities on the implementation of international agreements signed today between the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Government of the Republic of Serbia were discussed.
These are agreements on border cooperation, border crossings and common locations at border crossings. An Annex to the Agreement between the Council of Ministers of BiH and the Government of Serbia on joint locations at the border crossings Bratunac - New Bridge and Ljubovija - New Bridge was also signed.
For the first time, we had such a competent representation of the two ministries, but also of a number of agencies responsible for the fight against organized crime and for cooperation between the two countries in the field of security.
I think that today we have achieved a kind of expected understanding on the basis of the already existing good cooperation between the two ministries - said Minister Cikotic.
He emphasized that there were talks about illegal migrations, which are a threat to both Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Serbia, and that this meeting is a new step in the cooperation between the two countries when it comes to security.
Vulin stated that he was especially pleased that they signed agreements today that will make people's lives easier.
“We have waited too long for the bridge to be operational, we have waited too long for people to shorten travel time, for goods to become cheaper due to bureaucracy,” said Vulin.
He emphasized that from today, the movement between the two countries will be faster, more controlled and cheaper.
He also touched on the topic of illegal migration, where he said that neither Serbia nor Bosnia and Herzegovina can be a parking lot for migrants.
“Today we talked about things that affect us together. Illegal migrations affect us all together. None of us wants to become a parking lot for migrants. The Republic of Serbia will not be that, and I am sure that the authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina do not want to prepare a situation for themselves to become a parking lot for migrants. With our joint cooperation, we will fight so that neither we nor you will be,” said Vulin.
