The Republika Srpska (RS) National Assembly elected SDS’s Dragomir Vasić, who is accused of war crimes committed in the Zvornik area, to one of the positions of vice president, which belongs to the opposition.

Dragomir Vasić was elected with 63 votes and received the support of the ruling majority. Previously, the ruling majority led by the SNSD refused to support Milan Petrović, who was also an SDS candidate.

Vasić was also accused of genocide in Srebrenica in his capacity as head of the Zvornik Public Security Center, but he was finally acquitted of these charges.
In the middle of last year, the Court of BiH confirmed the charges against Dragan Spasojević, Vinko Radović and Dragomir Vasić. The three are charged with committing crimes against humanity by the actions described in the indictment.

The accused are charged, among other things, with having acted in violation of international humanitarian law during the period from 30 May 1992 to 25 June 1992, in the territory of the Zvornik municipality, during the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina and during the armed conflict between the Army of Republika Srpska (VRS) and the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina (Army of RBiH) in the territory of the Zvornik municipality, and during the widespread and systematic attack by military, paramilitary and police forces of the so-called Serbian Republic of BiH, and then the Republika Srpska, directed against the civilian Bosniak population of the Zvornik municipality, which lasted from 8 April 1992 until at least the end of August 1992, knowing both of the armed conflict and of the widespread and systematic attack and that their actions formed part of that attack.

It is further stated that the accused knowingly and willingly helped in the preparation and carrying out the forced relocation of about four thousand Bosniak civilians from the area of the villages of Đulići, Klisa and the surrounding villages, and some of the accused knowingly and willingly helped in the illegal imprisonment of about 600 Bosniak male civilians from the same area, and during their separation they cursed and beat some of the separated civilians with fists, legs, rifle butts and other suitable objects and demanded that they hand over all their money, gold, valuables things and documents, while unidentified Serb soldiers killed some Bosniak civilians during the separation, Klix.ba writes.
