Western Countries condemn Iran for attacking Israel

Western countries on Saturday night condemned Iran for its retaliatory attack on Israel.

Iran has launched dozens of drones toward Israel in response to an attack on its consulate in Syria on April 1 that killed senior military commanders.

“Iran has once again shown its intent to sow chaos in its own backyard,” British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said.

He reiterated that London’s insistence on standing up for Tel Aviv’s security is “the security of all regional partners, including Jordan and Iraq.”

French Foreign Minister Stephane Sejourne said that “France strongly condemns Iran’s attack on Israel”.

Accusing Iran of taking the risk of military escalation, he added:

“France reaffirms its commitment to Israel’s security and assures it of its solidarity”.

“Together with our allies, we are urgently working to stabilize the situation and prevent further escalation. Nobody wants to see more bloodshed,” added Sejourne.

Italy has expressed concern over Iranian attacks on Israel.

“We are following what is happening in the Middle East with attention and concern,” Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said on the X social network.

Tajani said he maintains constant communication with the Italian embassies in Tel Aviv and Tehran.

“After consultation with the prime minister and the defense minister, the government is ready to manage any kind of scenario,” he said.

Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte called the situation “very worrying”.

“Earlier today, the Netherlands and other countries told Iran clearly and loudly to refrain from attacking Israel,” Rutte said, adding that the Netherlands strongly condemns Iran’s attacks on Israel, calling for the avoidance of further escalation.
