Chairwoman of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation Valentina Ivanovna Matviyenko addressed the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, and said that Russia is committed to removal of the Office of the High Representative in BiH and that a “civil war” happened in BiH.

Matviyenko also said that the Russian Federation was “the guarantor” of the Dayton Peace Agreement, that it participated in the creation of a new state of BiH, and that the Dayton Peace Agreement is alpha and omega for them. Therefore, they do not see the need for any kind of the restructuring of the system.

“The country itself should be developing mutual cooperation. Now, during the most complicated phase in BiH, the basic task is in the strengthening of the government of the state and intensive development of bilateral relations,” said Matviyenko.

She also noted that economic and business connections should be improved.

“The trade exchange between Russia and BiH was increased, and Russia and BiH achieved a total of 194 million BAM of exchange in 2017, but our capabilities are even larger. Our mutual task is to strengthen the bilateral basis,” stated Matviyenko.

She noted, before she said for the war that it was a civil war, that BiH can always count on the support of Russia, which is the guarantor of the Dayton Peace Agreement.

She welcomed the principal rejection of BiH to implement the illegitimate measures against Russia.
