workersRepresentatives of the new Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the trade unions, met for the first time at the seat of Government in Sarajevo, and according to participants, the topics were social issues and necessary reforms in FBiH.

The future of the new labor law was repeatedly mentioned, but this had not been a theme that was discussed.

As the President of the Alliance of Independent Trade Unions of BiH Ismet Bajramović said, prior to opening questions about the labor law, other pressing problems should be dealt with, such as the non-linking of years of service of workers and the inability of treatment and lack of pay, a problem which for lasts for some years.

Having an active social dialogue between the Alliance of Unions and the relevant Federation Ministries was agreed upon, said Bajramović, adding that the third party in this dialogue is the employers.

The Federation of BiH Prime Minister Fadil Novalić said that the representatives of the Government exhaustively informed each branch of the union about the new economic policy.

He noted that the situation, sociology and economics, in the Federation of BiH is not good and that the Government will implement the reforms, but that no one, neither the Government nor any of the other social partners, should be blamed individually.

“There are weaknesses on the trade union’s side, but we need the cooperation and the meeting was very constructive,” PM Novalić said.
