Delegation from BiH led by the Mayor of the Municipality of Novi Grad Sarajevo, Semir Efendic, and the Municipality of Olovo, Djemal Memagic, is staying in a three-day visit to Azerbaijan.

The visit took place in cooperation with the Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB), which gathered about 30 member countries, including BiH and Azerbaijan.

Although BiH is currently going through the process of joining the EU and NATO, the economic progress of our country is not so visible as the progress of Azerbaijan, and there is a great potential for cooperation in this area and further strengthening of economic bonds between the two countries.

Besides mayors of the aforementioned municipalities, BH delegation also includes representatives of several successful BH companies such as: AS Group, Euroasfalt, Bosnaplast, Alma Ras, Sarajevostan and Tourist Board of the CS.

“We already made contacts with several companies from Azerbaijan that are engaged in the sector of textiles, energy, electrical materials and some other fields. The establishment of this type of cooperation proved to be successful and we have to strengthen it and realize its further development,” said Mayor Memagic.

The Park of Friendship of these two countries and a memorial to the victims of Kocaeli was built in the Municipality of Novi Grad Sarajevo back in 2012, in which the Government of Azerbaijan invested about 2.5 million BAM. Moreover, the School Center for Visually Impaired Children, and sports hall were constructed with the support of this friendly country as well, and they were opened back in 2013 by the Mayor Semir Efendic and Lejla Aliyeva, the daughter of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, as announced from the Municipality of Novi Grad.
