What was discussed at the Meeting with the Venice Commission?

The Vice President of SDA, Sefik Dzaferovic, stated that ad-hoc solution for upcoming elections in October was discussed with members of Venice Commission at the meeting regarding amendments to the Election Law of BiH.

According to him, members of the Venice Commission should offer specific advice regarding this issue.

“There is no solution for SDA that will not respect census from 1991 and minimal representation from every canton when it comes to the House of Peoples of the Parliament of the FBiH,” noted Dzaferovic.

He believes that the issue of amendments to the Election Law of BiH is not only the issue of the FBiH, but it is deeply related to the RS and Brcko District.

“This is not only the issue of two political parties and parliamentary majority. This is the issue of all parliamentary political parties. That is the issue of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH with political parties from the entire BiH”, stated Dzaferovic.

He announced that meeting of members of Venice Commission with all political parties is scheduled for 9 a.m., after which will follow the meeting with political leaders in the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH.

The meeting of members of Venice Commission with representatives of political parties from the FBiH was held two days ago in the Delegation of EU in Sarajevo, and yesterday, representatives of Serb political parties took part in conversations regarding amendments to the Election Law of BiH for the very first time.
