Where are Highways being built in BiH: They will reduce the Distance between Cities

”Since Corridor 5C does not pass through all parts of the country, the commitment of the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) and Public Utility Autoceste(Motorways) of FBiH is to build highways throughout the Federation in order to enable the even infrastructural development of all cantons, and to make them even more attractive to attract both domestic and foreign investments, ” it was said from Motorways of FBiH.

Financing of expressways in FBiH is done from the Budget of the FBiH. Every year, the FBiH Government adopts the Decision on the adoption of the program for spending part of the funds “Capital transfers to public companies – transfer for the construction of highways and express roads“, determined by the FBiH Budget.

The funds are intended for financing the costs of design, expropriation, works and supervision.

Express roads in the FBiH are:

Bihac – Cazin – Velika Kladusa – Border with the Republic of Croatia;

Bihac – Kljuc;

Lasva – Travnik – Jajce;

Praca – Gorazde;

Mostar – Siroki Brijeg – border with the Republic of Croatia.

Contracts for the execution of works were signed for the Praca – Gorazde (Hranjen Tunnel) and Lasva – Travnik – Jajce expressways, the Lasva – Nevic Polje section (LOT 5 exit from the Vitez – Nevic Polje business zone), and the last section of the Sarajevo bypass from Vlakovo to Mostar intersection – LOT 3B.

Other sections are in the phase of preparation for construction.

Hranjen tunnel

More than 50% of the main and service tunnel pipes have been breached

The Hranjen tunnel with a total length of 5.5 kilometers, which is under construction, is an integral part of the 18.5 kilometer long Praca – Gorazde expressway project (Hrenovica – Hranjen – Gorazde), which will connect Sarajevo and Gorazde. The construction of the Hranjen tunnel represents a historic project for Gorazde, as the road distance between this city on the Drina and Sarajevo will be reduced from the current 95.6 to 56 kilometers.

The contractor is Euro-asfalt d.o.o. Sarajevo, and the supervision of the works is carried out by IPSA Institute d.o.o. Sarajevo.

Lasva – Nevic Polje, LOT 5

Express road through central Bosnia

In the area of the Central Bosnian Canton, the construction of one part of the section of the expressway Lasva – Nevic Polje, LOT 5, with a length of 4.8 kilometers, is underway. The other four LOTs of this section are Lasva – Kaonik, Kaonik – Seliste, Seliste Vitez (Vitez interchange – entrance to the business zone), and Poslovna zona Vitez (Vitez interchange – from the entrance to the exit of the Business Zone). The future road Lasva – NevicPolje will have a total length of 24.3 kilometers.

LOT 5 is designed as a road with the characteristics of an expressway with two traffic lanes (driving and overtaking) for each direction of movement.

Sarajevo bypass – LOT 3B

Activities undertaken with the aim of continuing and completing construction

The route of the expressway LOT 3B is the connection of the Vlakovo interchange with the interchange at the Mostar intersection to the main road M-17/M-5, with a total length of 1.44 kilometers.

The construction of LOT 3B will enable a better traffic connection of the highway on Corridor Vc with the network of lower-level roads, main and local roads. More specifically, a direct connection will be provided for vehicles coming towards the Vlakovo interchange on the highway from the roundabout at the Mostar intersection, i.e. from the direction of Kiseljak, Rakovica, Pazaric and Hadzici, Biznis Info reports.
