The thirteen-year-old girl who delighted the public in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) and beyond with her jump from the Old Bridge in Mostar is called Tara Vesic. She has no connection with Norway or Mostar, as was stated after the publication of her brave jump on social media.
Tara lives in Belgrade, and she traveled to Mostar with her mother, Natasa, because she wanted to watch the Red Bull Cliff Diving competition live, which was held last weekend.
She liked Mostar
Tara and her mom were found and interviewed on the Old Bridge, from which, as she said, it was a big challenge for her to jump.
”I wanted to jump from the Old Bridge because I had already jumped from greater heights of 17 meters and it was a challenge for me to jump from a height of 23 meters. It was a little strange, but I wasn’t scared. I was happy when I got out of the water and everyone was applauding me. I saw that the video of my jump was published by many media and I am very proud,” said this brave little girl.
Tara will soon be in the eighth grade of elementary school, and she has been a member of the Cukaricki Diving Club for seven years, where she trains hard. Her wish is one day, as she revealed, to try to participate at the Red Bull Cliff Diving competition.
”I watched those jumps live for the first time and I am fascinated. I regret that I did not know that the legendary Orlando Duque held a training camp in Mostar because I would have joined,” she added.
It is her first time in Mostar and she does not hide her enthusiasm for its beauty.
The mother is very proud
”I really liked Mostar. It has nice culture, and I know that jumping from the Old Bridge is a long tradition and that jumpers here perform a dive called the “swallow” and I know that these are very dangerous dives. One diver performed the “swallow” at the opening of the Red Bull Cliff Diving competition,” Tara said.
Her mother Natasa said that she was initially not afraid when her daughter expressed her desire to jump from the Old Bridge, because, as she explained, she had performed countless jumps from heights of 17 meters.
”However, the fear appeared the moment I saw Tara standing on the Old Bridge. That’s when my arms and legs “failed” because it’s a huge height after all. But she jumped great and I’m very proud,” Natasa pointed out.
Listo delighted with Tara’s jump
Lorens Listo, multi-time champion of the Jumps from the Old Bridge and president of the “Mostari” diving club, did not hide his delight at Tara’s jump. Listo said that Tara did not, as it seemed, jump by accident. Previously, he said, she performed a series of jumps from the “Duradzik” ski jump from a height of 17.6 meters.
”I didn’t watch her jump live, but what you can see on the video, I can say that it was perfect and that she fell into the water perfectly. I contacted the manager of Red Bull, who is very interested in her and we will probably arrange a meeting with her parents. However, here, exclusively, after we have just met, I can say that they have accepted our invitation for Tara to open the 457th jump from the Old Bridge next year. That is, for her to open our traditional event with her jump,” Listo revealed, Avaz writes.
