Who will have the Right on Free Textbooks in Republika Srpska?

The Government of the Republika Srpska adopted the Information on the provision of free textbooks for primary school students for the 2023/2024 school year. Ministry of Education and Culture since the 2007/2008 school year continuously provides free textbooks for an increasing number of elementary school students in the Republika Srpska.

In accordance with the valid conclusions of the National Assembly of the RS and the measures defined by the Population Policy of the Republika Srpska for the next school year 2023/2024. year, textbooks will be provided for all students from the first to the fourth grade of elementary schools, for all elementary school students who are winners of the national competition in the 2022/2023 school year (also applies to music school students), and for students from fifth to ninth grade who are the third and next child in order of birth in a family with three or more children.

Also, at today’s session of the Government of the Republika Srpska, a decision was made to increase the number of children who exercise the right to free textbooks from the fifth to the ninth grade, and in accordance with it, free textbooks will be provided for beneficiaries of the right to allowance for assistance and care of another person, as well as for children beneficiaries of the right to personal disability allowance in accordance with the Law on Social Protection.

5,700,000.00 BAM will be allocated from the Budget of the Republika Srpska for free textbooks in the next school year.

In addition to the textbooks provided by the Ministry of Education and Culture for the mentioned categories of students, the Ministry of Family, Youth and Sports will provide free textbooks for excellent students from families with four or more children, for students from the fifth to the ninth grade.
